That guy has a whole series of CD's with similar assaults on telemarketers... Very funny stuff.

I hate having my dinner interrupted as much as the next person, but I try to keep in mind that the caller is some minimum-wage serf in a phone boiler-room, trying to earn a living, probably supporting a family on two jobs. (Welcome to the neo-con future...)
Now if I could get the phone number of the rich SOB CEO who organized the 'marketing plan', it would be a different story......

Gawd, I love that link!

My experience with the national "do not call" list is that it's pretty much a joke. After signing up, it helped quite a bit, but did not eliminate the problem.

So I let the answering machine pickup, and I screen ALL my calls. But just to be a little sneaky with the telemarketers who do call, I've crafted a message that catches a lot of them. It goes kinda like this:

"Hello?" . . . about a 3 second pause -- enough to get them to start talking, then . . . "If you're a telemarketer, take this number off your call list. Otherwise, state your name and business after the tone."

Everybody I know knows I screen my calls and they know that once they start talking, if I'm around I'll pick up.

Best,

Michael
